Below, we provide information about the nature, scope, and purpose of the collection and use of personal data. The most up-to-date version of this information is available on our website at any time.

Accessing web pages
When you access a page or subpage on badw.de, the web server temporarily stores the following information:

  • IP address of the requesting computer
  • Date and time of access
  • Name, URL, and amount of data transferred for the file accessed
  • Access status (file requested and transferred, file not found, etc.)
  • Identification data for the browser and operating system used (if transmitted by the requesting web browser)

These entries are continuously analyzed automatically to detect attacks on the web servers and respond accordingly.

In individual cases—that is, when malfunctions, errors, or security incidents are reported—a manual analysis is conducted. The legal basis for this stems from the obligation to ensure the IT security of a website under Section 13(7) of the German Telemedia Act (TMG), as well as from the general obligation and governmental responsibility for IT security under Article 11(1), sentence 1, of the Bavarian E-Government Act (BayEGovG).

Entries older than seven days are anonymized by truncating the IP address. The anonymized data is used to generate access statistics. The software used for this purpose is operated locally by the LRZ.

The IP addresses contained in the entries are not combined with other data sets, so it is not possible to identify individual persons.

Session identifiers (so-called “session cookies”) may be used on the websites of BAdW research projects and in online applications associated with BAdW research projects. These session identifiers are used solely to provide the functions offered on these pages and are not used to track user behavior.
